Re: How to blacken brass, advice needed.

Thanks for the info but hydrochloric acid is kind of a non-starter. I have worked with it before and didn't ever like the experience. All kinds of hazards. Not in my job jar if I can ever avoid...

How to blacken brass, advice needed.

I want to make some brass parts black. I bought some commercial stuff that is supposed to do that. Tried it out, yep, it turns the brass parts really black, BUT... There is about zero durability in...

Tinypic is shutting down!

Just went to tinypic to upload some pictures. Got a nasty surprise. Tinypic sez they are shutting down and going out of business. They suggest photobucket premium ($5.00/month minimum, up to...

Re: Need some advice on tires/wheels

I cut a couple of rims at 44.5mm where the tire sets. That seemed to work pretty good on the tires I got.

I'm going to order some of those 22mm wide ones you are using. They look really nice...

Re: Need some advice on tires/wheels

Wombii

I looked at those tires. Like the tread pattern. The ones I got have a pretty simple road tread pattern. Might be good enough for the front tires. You said you are using both 22mm wide...

Re: Need some advice on tires/wheels

No specific model, more of a generic. I got intrigued by the telescoping boom structure and decided to see if I could make one. After some fooling around I got one built and working. It was sized...

Need some advice on tires/wheels

Started a project to build a 1/12 wheeled excavator (Gradall). Got the cab/boom/bucket part done, now looking at the chassis. Have most of that worked out but...

Re: Anyone using fiberglass for body construction?

I'm kind of committed to the sanding op after molding. There is going to be a lot of stuff that will need to be added/filled in addition to the material finish. (I agree, it sucks.) but I need to...

Re: Anyone using fiberglass for body construction?

I have looked at the Bondo line and thought that the filled stuff would be good to use as part of the layup. Have you used the reinforced stuff? Could it do the job all alone in corners/edges...

Re: Anyone using fiberglass for body construction?

I'm heading toward more of a 3-D shape. (Like a shoe box cover) Edges curved and corners rounded. I have banged out most of the details for a mold, now I have to figure out the materials.
Among...

Anyone using fiberglass for body construction?

I'm thinking of taking a run at making a fiberglass shell for part of an excavator, maybe part of the crew cab or top. Do any of you folks do that and/or can you give some advise?

I looked at...

Thank you for adding the picture. Now I don't need to.
Now that the picture is here, several additional comments on it.

Thanks, we'll try that.

One additional question. When I am generating the "new post" there is a button at the bottom for "preview" Assuming I'm adding the image and jot just a clickable link,...

Posting pictures and Camotics test

Newbie (here). Decided to take a run at posting with pictures. Read about Camotics and downloaded it last week, so used it as an image source.

The images are of a hub for a crawler vehicle...
