Re: CROSS RC UC6 6x6 Ural Truck

I thought it was the tension and not your stitching. Maybe the material you're using is too stretchy, the one I have gives a little when it's pulled, but not what I'd call stretches. I think that...

Re: CROSS RC UC6 6x6 Ural Truck

Yours certainly looks better at the back for sure and the removable flap is a good idea. The only thing I would say is the stiching along the side looks wonky, maybe it's just uneavean tension you...

Re: CROSS RC UC6 6x6 Ural Truck

Here's the photos of the back of the canvass you wanted. You'll have to excuse all the creases, it was rolled up and I've only temporarily attached it to show you the back.

Re: Cross-RC UC6 tank hauler

I used an electric shear, it's a tool I used to cut holes in roofs of cars when installing after market sun roofs. It's a hand held tool and it cuts through 1mm steel like a pair of scissors through...

Re: Cross-RC UC6 tank hauler

I am on Rc Tank Warfare, but rarely go on it. I've not really run it since I've had it, mainly because of the transportation issue. Most places I go trailing with my trucks, you have to walk a fair...

Re: CROSS RC UC6 6x6 Ural Truck

The trailer build is now in the military vehicles section of the forum. I'll get some photos of the canvass tomorrow.

Re: Cross-RC UC6 tank hauler

I added some chains to hold the tank in place as it slipped off the trailer when first tested. The turn buckle is there to put tension on the chains once they're attached to the tank.

Re: Cross-RC UC6 tank hauler

Next job was to add some wooden boards. I made these from balsa wood and cut grooves in the wood to look like planks. I capped the edges with "U" shaped aluminum to hold the balsa wood in place and...

Re: Cross-RC UC6 tank hauler

So moving on... I made some ramps from the same material as the running boards. I added some old metal sockabsorbers without springs as fake ramp rams...

Re: Cross-RC UC6 tank hauler

Running boards next. These are made from 60mm x 5mm flat aluminum and are bolted to the outriggers. As the scale of the tank is a bit small, I purposely made the running boards narrower so the tank...

Re: Cross-RC UC6 tank hauler

The next step was to add the cross members and outriggers. These are made of solid aluminum square rod which was cut and threaded by my local friendly machine shop.
Once I got them back, I bolted...

Re: Cross-RC UC6 tank hauler

Now for a suspension test, will it be able to take the weight of the tank? The simple answer was no!

The leaf springs were just flattening out on the truck and trailer...

Re: Cross-RC UC6 tank hauler

After much cutting I made a bracket from steel which would space the spines apart at the front and also double up as the coupling pin mount. I sourced a trailer for donor parts, mainly for the...

Re: Cross-RC UC6 tank hauler

The trailer I designed on 2d autocad, basically I measured the length of the tank and made the trailer to suit. The tank weighs around 8kg, so the trailer needed to be fairly strong.
My idea was...

Re: CROSS RC UC6 6x6 Ural Truck

Hi,
I don't have a photo to hand at the moment, but basically it doesn't have a means of securing ithe flap in place. What the manufacturer has done is to incorporate a sewn in pocket that is the...

Hi all,
I just joined this forum and wanted to say hello. I have various RC's, mainly slow stuff.
This is my favourite at the moment. It's a Cross-rc UC6 converted to take a fith wheel. The trailer...
