You need a 3 channel radio to operate a Tamiya Truck.. (Steering, Throttle and gears.) The Third channel will also need to have 3 positions if you want to use all 3 gears..

You will need 4 channels to operate the MFU and an extra channel to operate the hoist, so 5 all up..

If you are building a rigid, (as opposed to a truck and trailer) you could do it with just 4...

But I have a silly question...

Instead of using the voltage step-up board, why not use a 3S 11.1V LiPo battery mounted under the Goldhofer instead.. A small, plug in low voltage...

If you want tail lights, then why not just add a set of 3mm LEDs connected to the headlight circuit??

Just make sure that the 3mm LEDs that you use are not as bright as the 5mm ones you use for...

I'm still using brushed motors and stock gearboxes in all of my trucks.. The Motors are mostly HPI 55/65 turn units, with a few customs ones thrown in..

There is no point in buying a different brand LiPo battery if it wont fit in your model because its too long or wide etc...
