Well, self-fabrication isn't an option, as I can't bore the hole for the axle-shaft, even if I could cut the slots with a file or Dremel.

And its not as much for strength as for durability,...

The pump bottle stuff also works as well as the can, just don't try the low-odor stuff, its the stinky chem that does the trick!

Agreed on the Slider...

Seen 'em in operation, and they'd be rather easily done, just make a screw-drive to push-pull the axle-assembly forward/aft, and then rails for the assembly to slide on.
