Re: 3D Printer files for Bodies

I don't know if this counts, but I'm currently working on the 3D model for "Big Red". This was Ford's gas turbine concept truck built for the 1964 World's Fair. Big Red was given coast to coast...

Re: Build an Excavator from Scratch

Pufferfish:

I've been watching a youtube channel called Fitzee's Fabrications. He does bodywork including fabricating some very complex replacement panels using simple hand tools, including some...

I think you've already told us, but what do you use for a welder?

Re: 1970s Dodge Tradesman kustom van

Cool lace!

I haven't seen that done since my 59' VW bus back in the mid 70's.

Re: Build an Excavator from Scratch

I was going to ask how you were cutting your parts, then I saw your saw. You've got some fairly tight curves that you appear to be cutting. What are you using for a blade on that saw?

Re: Yale Forklift - NewRay

In Bi-centennial Man, "Andrew" was just shipped in a big coffin sized wooden crate. (I think it was wooden, I seem to remember them prying it open in the movie.)

Presumably the crate had the...

Re: RC Benchy

I could just drill it out, but I want the U-joint, just in case there are any alignment issues.

I just got the e-mail that the u-joint will be waiting for me when I get home. (It wasn't on a slow...

Re: RC Benchy

The parts have started arriving. I got the motor and the prop shaft earlier, and last night I got the ESC. I got the motor installed, and the shaft fitted ready for installation. The connector was...

Re: RC Benchy

Benchy's temporarily on the back burner while I wait for parts to arrive.

You know, the unimportant stuff like the motor. an ESC, the prop-shaft and bearings, the prop, more servos - little stuff...

Re: RC Benchy

Mario's surgery was done the old fashioned way, with saw and filler. I just amputated his arm at the elbow and then reattached it. I think it turned out OK. Here's a couple of views of the...

Re: RC Benchy

Mario is out of surgery and recovering nicely. His time under the knife wasn't too drastic. I just bent his arm a little, and twisted it a bit. Just enough so that he doesn't look quite so much...

Re: RC Benchy

Frizzen:

Actually since I work where Cap'n Crunch is made, it was STRONGLY hinted that the Cap'n should BE the captain of Benchy. I saw that version of the Cap'n, unfortunately I don't have the...

Re: 1/12th RC Crawler Crane Dragline Plans

There are times when having a 3rd arm like Riza in MIB International would sure come in handy.

Like running an RC dragline, or when needing to hold 2 parts while applying glue to the joint, or....

Re: 3D Filament color match to Bruder

Yup, I've got most of a roll of "Iron Red" to use up. And then an unopened roll of "True Yellow" that I'll have to use for something.

You gotta wonder who comes up with these names. And if they...

Re: 3D Printer files for Bodies

Maybe THAT's why if I don't print something every couple of days I'll find the filament snapped off at the extruder drive? The Plastic Pooping Robot got bored and was acting out?

Re: RC Benchy

I haven't been able to find a Cap'n Crunch figure in an STL file, licensed trademark and all that. I did find the STL files for Mario on Thingiverse though. Why I can find Mario, and not the Cap'n...

Frizzen:

I haven't tried floating this thing yet, there's still a couple of major holes below the waterline. Benchy's still missing his prop shaft/bearings, and rudder tube. I think it's going...

Re: Axle suggestions?

I agree with jerry56, even though these toys may be heavy, I don't think they'll have enough traction to be able to dig a load of dirt in the scraper. The belly dump should be doable though.

Re: RC Benchy

That and the print time. The 2 main sections of the hull take about 28-30 hours to print - EACH. I had to print the forward section 3 times before I got a good part.

I THOUGHT I had a...
