Well I am finally getting back to my trucks, and am ready to get a better radio. I ma going with the Airtronics RDS8000, (I think) but do I need to get Mode 1 or 2?

Is there anything special in setting up the gear box? Mine seems to be slipping, this is the first truck I have built (Mercedes 1850L), and want to get this one running before I build my King Hauler....
