For trying to keep the sprockets clear you could try a sprocket spade. These are just examples off a couple tanks I have. You'd have to think a bit different since your running a single row of teeth, but could possibly work. Maybe a spade coming off the bogie support beam toward the sprocket with a groove for the sprocket teeth.
