it was time for a bit of maintenance on the junk rock truck as the swivel was sagging , the steering wasn't working too flash and the tipper set up was very sad.

I made up a new dual layer swivel joint .
I made a new set up for the tipper motor and used a universal joint on the screw drive.
I made a cover to protect the tipper motor.
rerouted the drive motor cables under the truck and into the bottom of the cab.
I also filled all the holes in the chassis of the tipper frame.

as for the steering a 6rpm motor was fitted at the back of the cab and a couple of arms bolted to the right places and we have steering!

I found when the bed was loaded with 20kgs it struggled to get started lifting ( may be my geometry is a little off) SO I had a brain wave and made some fake rams to fit to the tipper.
They are filled with two 50mm long compression springs, so when all the way down( tipper bed) they are compressed, this gives that little bit extra and make the lift start easier.

now its off to paint and back to work.

new swivel joint

full steering lock

tipper 2/3rds up

and how I made the rams, once the springs are decompressed on the up lift the rod just follows the screw drive.

next possible plan is to put some motors in and drive the front wheels.
but first its paint and put it to work.

cheers andy
