Any chance gutting the battery holder might work? The plastic is all optional, just keep the protection circuit and bus bars, insulation tape over the contacts.

I'm afraid NOT! Even the 3 batteries by them self's are too long to fit, side by side. IF I were more electronically inclined, I might could disassemble the thang, & redneck it together. I'm afraid that I'd try it, do something wrong, then it'd let out a BIG cloud of smoke, & leave behind a mound of melted plastic for me. I wish I were more electronically inclined. I think if I were to be able to stack the batteries 2 on bottom, & one on top, they just might could fit.
