On-board charging ?
I'm considering using an on-board charging method while still connected to the ESC. I did some reading about the topic and I'm curious if anyone here charges their battery via extra plug to the battery so there is no need to remove the battery or body and deal with all that mess. I'm going to use a Y splitter so I can just pull out the extra female for charging that will be tucked away.
Does anyone have any experience with this setup and if so, where is your charging port? |

Re: On-board charging ?
Hi,
yes, I do. On plus side it's a y-cable that connects the ESC and the charging port with the battery. On minus side I do have a 3 position switch. Center: no minus connected Left: minus of battery connected to ESC Right: minus of battery connected to the charging port I'm charging my NiMH packs with 0.5A. LiPo should never be charged on-board.

Re: On-board charging ?
Just so long as not Lipo batteries. The fire risk is too great and could cause total loss of your machine.

Re: On-board charging ?
That's a great idea, I haven't really thought about using a 3 position switch. Thanks for the tip! I would never charge a lipo while still in any of my vehicles. I do plan on using nimh to stay on the safe side.
