Talking Steiger Panther IV

Good Day everyone,

after more than one year of planning, having spent more than 250 hours in front of my PC I finally started working on my beloved Steiger Panther IV.

Back in 2017 during a road trip I visied the Fargo Plant in Fargo, ND

I got to take lots of photos in 2009 back in Australia that really helped.

11 years a batchelor and a masters degree in engineering later I was finally capable of designing one in Tamiya scale.

Since I live in a metric world I used mostly 1mm, 1,5mm and 2mm sheet metal that gets welded together using my Lampert U5 welder.

Lets start with the cab:

Next step axles and frame.

Very nice, looking forward to following this. Were your parts cut out with a laser?

Yes all sheet metal parts got cut out by a laser.

Continued with the axles. They will later on house two motors each for decent traction.

Base of the cabine and part of the main frame

I love the spotwelding

Continued on the main frame:

Done...

:O This is so cool! I'm not planning to do an engineering masters degree, but I can probably manage 11 years of not marrying anyone. Do you think that's enough for me to be allowed to do an awesome build like this?

Beautiful work

I have a 1982 Panther CT-1325 that my dad bought new. It has the 3 piece front window for a wider, more rounded cab, I luv that tractor! It was a big tractor in its day & decades more advanced than its competitors... I still use it today to pull a heavy harrow with granular chemical applicator, I get a few days use from it every spring... it's gotten too small to pull anything else, unfortunately... they don't make 'em as quiet & comfortable as they use to.

Thx guys
I´ve actually been thinking about looking into building the CT-1325

Had a little play with the 3D printer

Checked the tread

And checked the interior

Built a few steps

And put the cab on top of the frame

Fantastic metal work, integrated with 3D prints takes it to another level.
Nice work...

That's really slick!

I love how you did the chassis tab&slot thing. The printed parts are looking good

Hi Kerst,

as all white parts, they are made of PLA.
The tires will be casted in black silicon like material.

Thx guys. Printed parts will be replaced. I´m not satisfied with the surface of the parts. Would need too much grinding.

I´ve done some testing what tires might look like.

Not 100% sure if it will be the left or the right one...

Those parts look beautiful, and nice job on the tiny welding!

That machine is going to be a beast.
