Talking KW T908

So a customer of mine got a Scania built a while back by someone he did not want to mention, and he was very displeased with the end result. Then he asked me if I would be interested in reproducing his fav Aussie Truck the KW T908 only supplying me pics of his 1/50 model and some measurements to work with.... and here is what I got going on so far... still needs some refinishing and details in some areas and adjustments but overall im pleased and hes ecstatic....

here is the pics he ave me of his small model,

heres where im at with it... Im also making him a custom Lusty EMS tipper trailer to go with it.

Scrap pieces just to mock it up are added and the roof is bent to get the proper angles

Fender Design

remove lining from old door and replace it with new doors and proper hinges on both the cab and sleeper

gotta clean everything up, LORD knows I HATE wires everywhere lol, spaghetti is meant for meatballs not TRUCKS!

a little cutting and fabbing

thanks for looking guys more to follow later...

The sleeper roof and windows look a little to big, have a look at Oztrucks K200 and you will see what I mean

yes sir just a smidge, bigger, the customer wanted me to make it slightly taller bassed on his measurements to fit some sort of smoke machine... He wanted the height without making it pointy...

and the windows will be getting a molding which will make them smaller as well

If it were getting an interior it would have been, but unfortunately the customer opted to not do an interior for this build...

Not 100% sure where I got them from it was while back! they were made to replace the mfu plug so y use them to plug into the trailer for lights and such... I'll try to look and see where I got them and I'll message you when I get the site, it was over seas..

Well it clearly is, as the visibility window is on the left side, but since it is getting no interior and black window it wouldn't really matter what side the steering is one because you couldn't see it lol.....

Rule 1: never build a model of a model. They are never correct.
Nice rule of thumb.... I'll keep that in mind however.... That was the reference given to me by one of your fellow Aussie's.... Along with pictures of real life t908's with windows on the door.... So ya can't blame a guy who lives in the US for doing exactly what he asked me to do.... I'm obviously not going to know any better since I can't just walk into a KW dealer and say hey I'd like to. Take reference off of a t908.....

They change it up very couple years. We didn't want the window on the new ones but had no choice

I when you did the hood you forgot the raise it up eg the difference between the top of the wheel arch to the top of the hood, to allow for the battery box under the drivers / passengers door which sit top level of the chassis, and the reason for the large hood is for the larger radiator and the rest of the crap thats under there and the reason we have cabs sitting higher is to help cool the engine down,
Cheers Cossett and it is miss not sir..............

I've cleaned this up , in the future please refrain from blatant bashing , it's not tolerated on this forum . Constructive criticism is ok to a certain extent , it makes us all better builders .

I am well aware the truck is taller, etc etc, there are ways of making the visible while still keeping the construction of the tamiya truck and suspensions uniform, which you will soon see when it is done.
