Carson Goldhofer
I've been wanting one of these for awhile now and finally decided I needed something to haul the Doosan machine around. Nothing fancy just my version of this kit with some simple touches to give it a nice look. No lights yet but that will be something that I will work on along with powring the ramps.
I was missing a part off of the plastic tree so I had to make one, so unlike Carson but whatever. Lets add some color to this piece The plastic U-joints suck by the way Needs more details Who's said you can't put DOT tape on a euro trailer???pleeeease I didn't like the plastic ramp holders That's it for now.

Re: Carson Goldhofer
Super looking trailer And I was also wondering how the air bags held up. Great job, and well done.

Re: Carson Goldhofer
Mo:
A few measurements please, if you will?? - whats the height of the main deck w/o load; - what is the width of the main deck with externders out, tip to tip; - and the diameter of the tires, please? I'm inna quandry now - TamiyaUSA has the Carson Goldie at $609 (as well as the dumper and a 'lowloader', and Garden Trucking has the PMD one at $670. Specs - PMD vs Carson Length: 26" (lower) + 10" (upper) - 39 & 3/8" (combined) Width: 6.5" / 8.75" (extenders in/out) - 7.87" (unknown) Ric said the Tamiya has aluminum rims, 65mm diameter, hence my asking about the Carson. Both have 3 axles, twin-tires on each. Goldie comes w/ bearings. Both look really sweet... Last edited by WhiteWolf McBride; 02-13-2013 at 01:02 AM. Reason: More info: |

Re: Carson Goldhofer
Thanks Mo.
Hmmm, 65mm = 2.56 inches, so the PMD/Tamiya tires are bigger, where the ones on the PMD/Wedico version are only 50mm, just short of 2 inches. Going 'by eye', the deck on it seems to be about the same height off the tires, so another 1/2" puts the PMD/Tamiya deck at about 3", and the Wedico one would be lower, about 2.5", right? So, w/ the extenders out, the Goldie is only 1/4" narrower (6.35mm), her deck is about 1/4" lower in height, but she is over 3" longer (76mm) and with those really neat double-bent ramps. Oh, and add that Tamiya offers free shipping on CONUS at the mo, $609 price tag. Only prob: I'm in Canada, and would been a buyer/re-shipper to get that deal. NAFTA my scrawny tush! PS: makes me wonder - measurements seem to indicate the PMD 'extenders' are longer. Could they be retro'd to the Goldie to make her even wider? Just idle thoughts. Re: Carson Goldhofer
The airbags work awesome!! I have them on the carson dump trailer and they are perfect since they actually have that suspension effect rather than the leaf spring kind. The other nice thing is they don't lose their shape so they won't flatten out.
White wolf , I'm at work, I'll measure when I get home.

Re: Carson Goldhofer
Great photos. It looks like a pretty strong trailer. All steel, laser cut, tab construction with spot welds on the main beams and members? That's pretty solid. Nice paint job too. The loader looks great loaded up.

Re: Carson Goldhofer
Thank you sir! Yeah this thing is solid man. It's 13.5 pounds all complete. I am very happy with it. The tires are made by Fulda and they are solid rubber but soft so you get nice scale squat and heavy load support.

I like it and it is a perfect match for the loader. You did a fantastic job finishing it out.

Re: Carson Goldhofer
Thanks Travis! The stupid wood pieces that came with it had to go, feast your eyes on the real wood planks ... Here is a little video of it hauling the loader

Re: Carson Goldhofer
Mo:
Whats this about the wood? They supply ya with cheap balsa or sommat? And love the vid. Nice way of hiding the 'manual' operation of the ramps, by showing us a bit more of your setup. Any chance of a quick clip showing you operating them by hand? And are you going to requip the trailer with remotely-actuated ramps in the future? WhiteWolf, hoping to get a Goldie ~really~ soon. PS: What size was the box for her, and shipping weight (if ya can remember)? Thx! |

Re: Carson Goldhofer
Hi guys,
I know this is an old topic/post. But did you get to having remote working ramps? I’ve just got myself the same trailer and searching on how to add lowering ramps. Cheers |

Re: Carson Goldhofer
Digger_Bear there are a few videos on youtub of how to lower the ramps with servos but it means making a larger hole in the back of the trailer for the sero arm to operate them as I was thinking about it when I finally painter my trailer a month or two back after having it for over 3 years, but I decided I would rather keep my tow hitch and have a use on of the small holes to run wiring for beacon that will be on the ramps when I get them.
Cheers Tracy
