Default DAF 33 small van

HI.
I thought it was time to build something different.
this time not a big truck. not a hugh machine. no a small van. even for dutch standarts it's small. it had been produced up to 1973.

I had fould a ( in lack of the right word) "sheetkit" of the daf 33. at the site of the Daf museum. and I needed to do something with it.
but the sheet was not near the right size for the 1 to 15 scale. and it wasn't the van version. well that not a big problem.

some things about the sheet aren't right

and probely the paper I printed it on was to weak. the nose is up. the back is down.
to test a new way to build an RC model. it's good that it's not a large model.
the way this one is going to build. is from cartboard. and poored over with resin. with should be sucked into the cartboard. next some pictures of the build

the drive motor is for a sheap toy car, and it even has a diff. the speed this will give I don't know, it just might be to fast.
the little trailer will carry the sedan version to the body and paint shop I'm building. the sedan will look like my own like I pulled it out of a farmers shed after beeing there in that shed for 15 years.

after running it for 3 years now. I will have an electronics update. the AA battery's last for 10 minute's or less. they will be replaced by a small lipo the speedcontroller will be swoped. the 15A will be a 10A. I need the 15A in the 2800nat. and I got the 10A for a few euro.
the front wheels will have ballbearings.
and the body needs some work. running is for 5 to 10 minutes a go. It didn't seem worth the work.
and some cardboard/resin failure need to be fixed.
this is the plan. pictures of the chainges will be here when their done

The body looks really cool!
How well has the cardboard composite held up for 3 years of running?

one screw of the front suspention came out the cardboard. and adding all the minutes of the 3 years together, is might be just 3 ours or there about. but it was fixed to just one layer cardboard and the two spring of the frontsuspention where pulling it all the time.

the plan is to add some sheet aluminium to that bit.
other daf vans I started to build later than this one will have that aluminium between 2 layers of cardboard. or in one case an brass chassis

the cardboard idea was born from necessity, but It seems to work fine.
the little screw that came out of the cardboard. was a selftapping screw with a little bit of tread.

just little nut and bolt will fix that.

I got it going.
the new electronics are in.

I seem to have misplaced the hood somewhere between home and the show.

this is how it looks like under the hood.

the 11.1V lipo, connected to a switch

the switch is connected to a 5 or 6V 3A Bec

The bec is connected to a 10A ESC that esc is connected to a reciever and the drivemotor
.

thats all the electronics in this little car.

Actually this is a pretty amazing project and material to work in. As long as there is plenty of Grolsch in the ice box it'll turn out great!

just one Grolsh a day. I also used 1 ore 2 of the can's in another project. I needed some thin aluminium there.
I'm working out if a cola cola truck is doable, with the bodywork made out of the coca cola can's, and it than it doesn't show its made of cans. that would most likely be a Peterbilt.
but that an other project.
