Default Scratch building a folding disc

I finally got a enough materials collected to start my latest build- a folding disc. If this is anything like the New Holland conversion i did it should take about 2 years too complete. First i started out with 3/16" x 3/4" aluminum strips to build the uprights that hold the row of disc. In the drill press had to make 16 pieces.

Next i pressed a bearing into cause i want this disc to last a long time.

Next I took some 1 1/4" fenders and tapped the with 1/4 x 20 tap.

Next threaded them on some 1/4" x 20 rod sharpened the edge on my bench ginder.

stock washer vs sharpened one

Ok i have 80 of these washers to due today. So tomorrow I'll post picture of a assembled row of disc. Time to get back to the ginder.

Looking good so far, keep the pics coming. Its a shame you can't press a convex into the washers.

Most of the parts for this build is from Lowe's so far. Next i use 1/4" x 20 threaded rod and screw of the fender washers. I applied some JB weld to the threads first to insure the disc will not move.

Next i cut some 1/4" x 3/4" strips of aluminum to form the lower frame.

And attached to the disc.

Thats it for now since i have to build 6 more sets of disc.

Got the rear section done this weekend and built 2 of the 4 outriggers. Should have all the outriggers done next weekend and will start on the framework next.

This is look great Hauler... did you grind all the disks by hand, just curious if all the angles are the same?
