Default Transmission Troubles

I was working on the electronics package getting my wires for lights figured out. I noticed my transmission making noise, So I grabbed my shifter linkage and moved it, The noise went away. Then I bumped my throttle lever and noticed I had no drive at all.

I haven't taken the transmission out yet. Do these things break down this often with the kit motor?

My transmissions have yet to break - and they're a few years old. No drive sounds like the trans is not in gear.

Well I had some time today and sat down with the truck on its side. I have been working on the Sound and Lights so I had unplugged the shifter servo and was rotating it by hand. I noticed that there was maybe 1/8 inch of the shifter rod showing. When I pushed it all the way in, and gave it a blip of throttle, the drive wheels began spinning. So I am good! So thanks everyone who replied offering help.
