Default Re: Eagle 870k loader modifications: Light kit and more..

Every time I run this loader, I get a little annoyed by the drive system. I think it has been beautifully crafted and it's really nice to look at, but it doesn't function like I want it too.

If I'm running in diff lock mode, it hurts the steering. If I run with free diffs, I don't really get the traction I want and one or two wheels are spinning. Also, there is so much slack in the drive train that you get really jerky movements when going downhill with bumps and the motor has to both push and pull all the time.

I don't really want to modify it, but I'm contemplating to replace the current drive mechanism with four gear motors, one in each wheel, like I have for my Bruder loader. I never have the traction issues on that one. I hate the idea of cutting into this beautiful model. But currently I'm not using it that much, because of the non-optimal function of the current drive train.

Any views?

Stein
