Matt,
Cool project. You should enjoy building this machine. I am making chain driven tracks for my cable hoe and it is quite a learning experience. The tracks and pads are copied from Greg (RCLogger) thanks Greg.  Everything you need to make is fairly simple though...spacers, shafts, idlers. There are lots of options for chains, sprockets & pre-made conveyer belts too.Good luck!
