I had my cattle trailer polished first then layed it on towels and rags and wired it. I didn't touch the outside. Usually just grabbed it by the little tabs on the inside or by the back bumper and the kingpin plate . Hope this helps

But I'm sure that I've got a few more lights on it my trailer than urs . Urs might be easier to polish than mine
