Hi Andrew,
The speed controller I will be using is a Servonaut M220 for tracked models.
I think to be honest the Wedico float will die a crushing death but will put it on to have a look anyway. One of the guys here in Perth has an RC4WD trailer and I think they are rated to about 80kg
