Sorry guys if I said it wrong.
I don't have a Sandmaster but want to build something that works like one with the overhead hopper design. I agree Kent that if I lower the road below the hopper would help. And there is no way in he** I will let the black pete and izzy trailer collect shelf dust! I didn't spend all that time and cash and not put them to work! I look at it this way.... two types of trucks at a open pit or mine site . The old dirty hard working site haulers and then the prestige type, haul the good stuff off the site highway rigs. ![]() I think your onto something with the chucker style conveyor RW ! That changes everything! ![]() Has anyone ever tried to make a scale auger style conveyor? It would eliminate angle issues . Just wondering what in the heck a guy could use to make one? ![]() |

Get a 15" car tire tube, buy a new one to cut up if need be, the rubber is thinner & will stretch for a 58" conveyer. 2' rise on 58" travel is not that steep. Screening a bucket load at a time, there will never be that much weight on the belt at any given time, so it won't take that much power to drive. Don't over think it.

Yeah, you're probably right Mario, the hat would likely just burst into flames & turn to ash.

![]() ![]() steves wheels were a must but that's it! ![]() ![]() ![]() There's room for other upgrades though. Started today when I took the advice from the forum and finally filled the steer tires with BB's. I bought a container today with 1500 bb figuring that should be plenty... Very surprised when I fit the entire contents into 2 tires and had a little room for more ![]() The other upcoming upgrade is a 4:1 GRU I ordered from PMD. Reason being, if I'm going to get Reg to build a pup, the truck better be able to pull it! ![]() Don't worry Reg..... Next winter build ![]() ![]() |

I probably shouldn't admit this but.... I haven't run the excavator since I shut the pit down for the season
![]() Thanks to the new indoor basement friendly material, I can run it and practice....and do I ever need it! ![]() http://youtu.be/75iZOmOrO5o |

Basement fun is coming to an end, will be outside soon........so I keep telling myself.
![]() ![]() I've really enjoyed having the ground rubber to move around and get me through the off season but always found a broom didn't clean things up very well when playtime was done. Turns out a rubber edged dust pan worked the best to gather the rubber back up. Because of that I added something today you will never see on a 1:1 loader bucket.... A rubber cutting edge! ![]() ![]() ![]() And a great way to clean up rc style! Still needs some tweaking to get it right but so far so good? ![]() http://youtu.be/opOChoZxgi0 |

I can't say I've seen a rubber edge on a bucket but we do have a 1:1 plow truck at work that has a rubber edge on its belly blade so that it doesn't tear up our durability events.
Looks like it does a pretty good job ![]() |

Garbage transfer station loaders use rubber edges.

What a difference this winter has been!
![]() Unlike last year which was crazy and seemed to last forever! ![]() A pic from last April 7th 2015 And now today March 14th 2016..... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Lots of drying and cleaning up required but happy to see I'll be out there much earlier than last year which means, longer backyard season this year ![]() ![]() ![]() |
