I'm not sure what your fittings are like but the SAE fittings I use have the same internal bore for both 1/8 and 5/32 sizes. The excavator uses 5/32 hose and fittings but was restricted at every connection. I drilled out the fittings to match the inside diameter of the hose and the difference in speed was noticeable. I'm not saying it was an earth shattering change but it did help. Can't you swap the motor and spin the pump a bit quicker?

What is the # on the Jung pump? What do you have the pressure set at?

Awsome ....the fine detail makes these models stand out ...nice ..How is the tapping going so far ..I have been doing quite a bit of 0-80 latley and it seems almost easier then the 2-56 and 4-40 ..Broke 2 2-56 on this my scraper build and one 1-72 ..2 of them were because I dropped them ..lol
I have to found some pretty good deals on Ebay for taps but should start looking for some good drill bits..my local suppler is charging over $5 a piece for the smaller bits ..they are good bits tho ..
Nice work buddy

If I would have planned ahead,,,,,,,, I wouldn't have to make simple tools like this!! Had to make an extension for drill bit and tap for holes along bed rails. Hand drilled. Haven't broken any bits or taps for a long time but most of the small ines I've broken have been from dropping them also!!! The first ring of bolts on the wheels are just for show, drilled a little under and just pressed them in. Every time I think I'm close to paint I realize another detail that would look good, feels like never ending!!

Like this hitch, have to tear the back end out to get in mill for cutting/tapping. Then thinking about small things like supports for wire to lights ect,,,, but I've learned if I don't do it now I don't do it. Still have lights for excavator laying around that I keep saying I'll get to!,,,,,,

I have done that, after thinking a few hours how on earth to reach such a spot and it took only minutes to make a simple extension.

Got to McMaster.com for your drill bits. You can get cheap ones or get the better ones much cheaper than from anyone local.

New gears arrived today, just in time for tear down for paint. Ihave 144:1 reduction and with these new gears I can change to 108:1 That might be a little closer to scale speed. Also can go to 81:1 (or 96:1) but I think that will drastically drop my torque and be too fast.

Paint time, was going to go with new cat yellow but I have several cans of old cat yellow. Oh well it will match the fleet.

Originally Caterpillars were painted Gray up to the end of 1931 Then changed to "Hi-Way Yellow" December 1931 making them more visible on construction jobs.
Cat changed the old "Hi-Way Yellow" to the new present day gloss yellow between 1979-1984.
Main reason for was the old yellow had a high lead content which is now banned. The old paint lasted longer because of the lead though. I have restored several old Cats from the 30's that still retained the gray or yellow paint.
