I'm thinking of leaving the tracks wide instead of cutting the 1/2" off to bring to scale width . Kinda looks like a wide track . I'm going with the single motor drive , just to see if it is possible in RC . I got pretty much figured out , just the time and parts and a quick peek of this I still have to machine the shaft and bolt together to test flow and pressure . only non calculated variable is the motor ( not sure if it has what I need ) but we'll see this is just a trial to see if I can make a pump from the scrap pile

I'm glad your going with one motor and steering clutches, you can be the guinea pig to see if works.lol Any more progress on the pump?

Re: dresser TD40B dozer
yes I actually put it together and tried it , have some seal reworking to do . It leaked between pump and motor . Yes ,I'll be the guinea pig on this 1 ,and will not give up till it works . need less to say nothing will be running anytime soon , lot of small parts to make . I need to get some chunks of aluminum to make 4 trannies for the scrapers , 2 reversers for this , valves , and pumps . if the vain is a no go then back to the gears .

Re: dresser TD40B dozer
well I got my pump working still got to get a shaft seal , A quad ring just not going to cut it ( should've known better ) . now on to the next unaffordable part valves . I think I'm going to wear this taig mill out with these 3 machines

Re: dresser TD40B dozer
Nice work on the pump - a vane pump you say. Wow, nice work. Would a press fit bronze SAE863 collar on the shaft help seal it? Are you planning to make the valves? If so, are you going to do a closed or open hydraulic system?

Re: dresser TD40B dozer
Nice progress Steve. Pump looks good!
Those HD brand servos I told you about on the phone don't like to sit for a long time under load, they have so much holding strength that they burn up from heat. So, they probably would be good to move/hold valves.

I'm might try something off the shelf first . not sure yet on open or closed . as for seal , I just used what I had laying around to try it out . Quote:
thanks Scott , any servo holding a load for a long period of time is not good for it , I would think . I'll cross that 1 when I can get to it .

Re: dresser TD40B dozer
only a little , Joe , welded up 1 track frame tonight had to get 68 steel wheels to the powder coater now got to finish the hubs for them and the next batch . my rollers will be hard ( cummins cam followers ) ? for you did you use bearings in yours or just a brass bushing ? I was thinking sealed bearings but may go with oil lite bushings and looks like the $ is keeping me on the make it my self path for awhile . got the shaft seal for the pump just didn't get it in yet .
thanks , Oh I will lots more to build
