Wedico 12v buhler motor bolt pattern
Hello,
I'm sick of not having enough power with the 12v stock motor. Third gear on the cat 740 with a full load seems to be bogging down. Motor may be getting old but won't spend the cash on a new buhler motor. So my question is: does anyone know of an adapter for this crazy bolt pattern so I can connect a brushless motor the wedico tranny? |

I don't think its the age of the motor, I have the same problem with mine with no more than 1-2hrs run time. I also would like to know about any options.

Hi Justin, You are correct I did put a Servonaut motor in place of the Wedico setup. After more testing, not going through the gearbox didn't have enough torque when loaded.

Re: Wedico 12v buhler motor bolt pattern
I have not changed the motor, I am looking for an adapter plate so that I can connect a better motor, possibly a brushless set up like the holmes revolver. I cant find an adapter plate, even on the German sites. After some testing, it is the motor, just not enough balls for the heavier 740 with a full load in 3rd gear. I have an unused buehler motor that specs out on a dyno the same as the old current 6 year old motor. But, because of the funky bolt pattern, the large open gap in the wedico tranny and the long pinion need, I have not found an alternative.

Re: Wedico 12v buhler motor bolt pattern
I don't think the axles will stand up to more power, especially the front axle having to transmit all the power to back axles too. The pitch of the crown & pinion in these axles is quite small. And I have stripped the teeth from the very front pinion before. The last time I ran the junk740, the driveshaft knuckle between front axle & trans broke.
This model desperately needs a transfercase between front & two rear axles with additional reduction... too bad the model design doesn't have the space within to do so.

Re: Wedico 12v buhler motor bolt pattern
Joe, I hear ya loud and clear on the piss poor design. I didn't even think of the stress on the front drive axel as it has to transmit all the power to the rear. Sad to say but I truly think my Tamiya axle will handle more torque than these. I just wanted something a little more, nothing crazy. Again, just sick of the under power in 3rd gear. You should know, your steep basement inclines must keep this thing in 1st gear all the time.

Any updates on this? Were you able to replace the motor?

No I have not found any adapter plates.
