Thanks! My sifted gravel just falls apart when it's dry like this but with just a bit of water it packs again. I think this will do the trick perfectly! In the fall it will get a special dump box. Quote:

Re: Hoarder Special!
I had to let this one go outside for a tinkle today. It pumps a good amount of water now. Just about right I would say.
http://youtu.be/Acb7J5H3EuE This is one pass up and back. And this is a single pass going as slow as I can. A couple pictures of it all pumped out. It ran through about 6L of water in around 5 minutes. |

Re: Hoarder Special!
It's been a long time but this thing has slowly received some upgrades and changes. AWD with Lesu axles, suspension, T case, tires and wheels. Sound unit, windows(ish), a clean up of the wiring ect. She's got her water tank on her back and all ready for the ATHS show in Duncan BC next month.
Some details about the mods in this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnV3gAQ0B8o Testing the reinstalled water tank https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7EGi7EziIk |

Re: Hoarder Special!
Great work Reg! Just curious, what is the ratio of the reduction you have before the transmission and how many turns is the motor (35T, 45T, etc) Speed looked very scale.

Re: Hoarder Special!
Thanks a lot guys. I'm not sure what the reduction is ahead of the trans. I think I was told it's around 4-1 but I honestly never actually counted the teeth. I believe the motor is a 55t and then the t case is 2-1. I like the speed as well but I hoped it might have been slower still. Oh well, it seems to crawl along OK and I think it will smooth out some when I get new driveshafts. It's actually kind of cool on smooth ground because you can rev it out in 1st,2nd,3rd in a smaller space. If you back off the throttle in between gears with the sound unit, it actually sounds realistic.

Re: Hoarder Special!
Reg if the ratios of a stock Tamiya 3 speed are;
1st - 1.32.49 2nd - 1.17.66 3rd - 1.10.66 Multiply them by 3 at the motor and again by 2 at the transfer case.........Holy Smokes, them are some low gears!!! Not to mention running off a 55T motor! |

Re: Hoarder Special!
Yes it's fairly low geared for sure. For spreading water it could be even slower but it's good enough. The worst part now is all of the slop in in the driveline. With all of the reductions and backlash in the gears it rolls a fair bit before things tighten up when you crest a hill. I am excited to get the Doggy reductions on two of my other trucks. Just need to get some spare time and a couple of drive shafts.

Beautiful truck, Reg. A real working horse, too. Really like the metal work on the cab.

Thank you very much Reg, but you are being unfair to yourself given that my build has been going on for so much longer.

Re: Hoarder Special!
Your build may take a while but it will truly be as close to the real thing as possible. I like to build in close enoughs.lol That why they don't take long.
I was asked about my steering setup with the driven China axle up front. It isn't the best setup I'll admit but it works like a charm! I apologize for the poor pictures. The truck has water in the tank so I couldn't tip it up. One hand holding the truck half off the shelf and the other trying to focus the camera didn't work so well.lol |

Re: Hoarder Special!
Yeah it's crowded. The trans is both lifted and moved forward about 3/4"-1". I don't know if that could have been done without the motor being flipped around on top of the trans. One thing I can say for sure is that it shifts much more positive now that the shift rod is much shorter and has less slop. With all of the reductions and driveshafts the driveline is another story. The truck moves at least 2" back and forth before all of the slack is taken up. It sucks when you crest a hill going super slow. Looks like it's taking off for a split second.lol
