I contacted Ian about replacing the 100:1 L12 30mm on my new dozer's blade lift with a L12 30 210:1 to get a more positive lift and he told me about a new L16 size actuator they haven't even announced yet.
Actuonix now offers a L16-30-63-12-S actuator. It has the same 30mm stroke in the more powerful L16 style. Eyelet to eyelet the new L16-30 is just 14mm longer and has a slightly bigger motor housing. Same price as the L12 too. The difference it made over the L12 was amazing, the blade now raises smartly and at a good speed to keep up with terrain changes. As my machine was set up for the L12 it took a couple minor modifications to account for the extra length (nothing difficult) but it now fits perfectly. If you need a 30mm stroke actuator for your next build but are worried if the L12 has enough power you might want to look at this new L16. They should have full specs and dimensions on their website soon. |

I can't believe we missed announcing that here. Facepalm, sorry guys.
Also to be clear, Ian is no longer regularly monitoring this account. This is his son, Mike. |

Thanks!
But all I can really take credit for is the paint job and fitting the new actuator. The real credit for the dozer goes to Izzy, she and her sisters were his creation. |

Hi Guys,
The 30mm L16-S is just a test batch to gauge interest in that particular stroke length. We had some PCBs left over from another custom project, so we turned them into 30mm L16-S in 35:1, 63:1 and 150:1 gearing. If they are popular then I might have a case to management for considering production of a 30mm L16-R. Ian Last edited by actuonix; 11-18-2016 at 02:41 PM. |
