Default New to the hobby

Hi I have just started getting into this hobby (getting retired).
Looking to get some info on products and where to buy.
So far I've been considering 1/14 scale dump trucks, wheel loader and excavator.

Thanks Frank

Welcome to the site, and congratulations on your pending retirement !!!
There are a lot of options, RTR, scratch building, conversions, electric or hydraulic...
I just got started myself so look thru the pages here and sort of get a feel for the hobby that will help you decide what direction you want to go in. Somebody will always be around to answer questions and provide advice once you decide.

Thanks Jerry,
I was wondering if someone could point in to reliable places where to buy these machines. I've done some search, but I'd like to hear your experience.

Well.....for me I'm on the low budget end of the hobby for now anyway. I like to tinker and don't mind building them, I've done a Tonka dump truck and am in the later stages of a Bruder Delta loader. I have several Bruder, Tonka and Nylint construction toys I want to convert.
RC4WD sells some nice construction equipment, as does MAGOM
https://store.rc4wd.com/
https://www.magomhrc.com/en/
A little less expensive and will probably require some tinkering is Huina some of their stuff looks pretty nice and it seems most people are happy with what they get.
This guy seems to get good revies for sales and service
https://www.xtreemrc.com/
and there is always Banggood...but prepare to wait, they take forever to ship
For conversion I use WPL/JJRC bits and pieces....not top of the line but they are reasonably priced and have worked well for me so far....
So you see there is a wide range of trucks it just depends on how much you want to work on them and how much you want to spend...Hope that helps a little.
I'm sure others will be along with more information.

I have a Carson LR 634 with Leimbach hydraulics that is decent. I also in the last year or so purchased a Fumotec PC 490 and it is excellent. In this hobby you get what you pay for....

What type of dumptrucks do you like?
Small jobsite powered wheelbarrow, light duty Pickup based, heavy duty Semi based, Offroad Wiggle-wagon, Quarry mining...

If the budget is REAL tight, start with the equipment operators gotta drive something to arrive at work.

FMX is one of Volvo trucks model, but they can't mention that without official license
