Talking JET 53' Drop Deck/Spread Axle/Beavertail Trailer.

Well I have been working on a few builds and this is one of them but I have been held up do to breaking the USB port on my camera and I have the pictures to the beginning of 3 builds on it but it is to be back tomorrow so says the tracking number so I am going to get the thread started.

I am building a JET trailer for a customer of mine he can make himself known if he likes. It is a as the title says a 53 foot trailer with a drop deck and a beaver tail with spread axles. These trailers are used a lot in the Ag Industry and in the Construction Industry do to there ability to carry good sized loads and ease of loading..

So here are the pictures of the 1:1 trailer I am going off of..

The hole trailer will be built out of 1/8 alum deck and rails the rails are cut out on a water jet then the deck will have would veneer over the top of it with brass edging and flip down ramps. Also the trailer will be running tamiya trailer axles with wedico tires for Low Profile tires. All parts will be hooked together with 1.5 and 3.0mm screws that with drilled and taped and very few screws will be able to be seen to keep that scale look and that clean and quality but look..

Nice looking drop deck. I am surprised at how close the tires are to hitting, does the 1:1 not have suspension?

They don't have a lot of travel do they.. The 1:1 trailers have big bags on them that allow them to haul a great deal but they do not have a lot of up travel but they have a pretty good amount of down travel.

Wow, this is cool Paul.....good to see someone building a JET! Great trailer, great manufacturer, and simple but tough design.

Used to work for the #1 seller of JET trailers (at least grain hoppers anyhow) in North America. The red T600 they had to haul their trailers around to the dealerships would roll into the yard about twice a week from Humboldt, IA.

Guys can have their Wilsons and Easts......product design on both sucks, especially from a service standpoint. No easy access to anything....airbags, thrust washers, shocks, air fittings.

Wow, anyway getting back to your project! Looks like a neat build to keep an eye on bud!

Talking Re: JET 53' Drop Deck/Spread Axle/Beavertail Trailer.

Ok boys and girls here we go finally got my camera back so I can get some picks up of this trailer build.

Ok so here is one blank rail and one with the 1/2 angle bolted to it with 1.5mm screws. All screws are drilled and taped.

So here is a pick of the end of the rails with the taper cut in them laying on the 1/8 inch deck.

Here is a pick of the lower deck all bolted on with 3mm counter sunk screws that are 4mm long with nylock nuts on them.

Ok 2 more picks. just a little mock up of how the axles will look when up the trailer.

Here is a close up pick of how the wedico truck tires look as low pro tires on a tamiya wheel.

So that's it for right now I will be working on the upper deck some tonight and hopefully have the axles bolted up under it tomorrow..

Looking good I noticed that the 1:1 had solid frames??? Or at least it looks that way. Did you go with cutouts just for weight savings or looks or is it me just thinking they are solid on the orig..
anyway keep up the great work

Dan the rails I am using were programed for the drop deck in the pictures above they are styled after a Trail King. So when this person wanted a trailer I just had them cut out the same way as he wanted that same look but to function and work like the Jet beaver tail drop deck..

Paul, I like the way you built the trailer, it should easily carry any piece of rc equipment you can fit on it. Nice work.

Thanks much Scott. I think it will be heavy enuff for the owner of it.. He said something about using it for his loader to haul it around..

Hey Paul, love those trailer frame rails. How long are they? Obviously scaled to Tamiya size, but I just wonder if they could be useful for a Wedico trailer. Width is no problem to change. Length might be. What do you think? Did you ever think about just selling the frame rails?
