Re: new project daycab aeromax
Well I picked this up from a member on scale4x4. They had just cut sleeper off and thats it. Now that I'm settled in a little better in the new home I'm going to give it a go on actually FINISHING a build.
As the title states a daycab aeromax will be the beginning, followed up with one of two ideas. Possibly going with a box delivery truck or stretching it out and just cleaning up the frame and mounts etc etc. As in capping the rails giving it a nice smooth look and of course full lighting and some aluminum goodies. Anyway heres a few starter pics that i took, started with full teardown and cleaning of the entire truck. Cut off sleeper and cleaned up edges and installed template peice for cab back. side view of cab Quick shot with the box laying on frame not to sure on the size compared to cab. front view Well I still have a lot of work to do but any and all input would be great on what you guys think. I would like to know if anyone else has any pics of an aero day cab, I saw a truck in the photos from the ECMT meet this past weekend but could not find anY build info on it, (tri-axle day cab), if anyone knows the owner that would be sweet. Anyway I'm not sure on the box yet, sizing looks off to me but then again it may be right. Thanks for looking and I'll be sure to keep you posted on any updates --Dan

Re: new project daycab aeromax
im trying to do the same thing but more of sticking an aeromax cab on a mercades semi frame and making a shorty flat deck. cant decide if i want 4x4 or not.

Re: new project daycab aeromax
Thanks roadranger I'll check out the build. I'm liking the box truck more and more when I look at it. The other option would be a flat bed stake side, which I could still make and then have both beds for it. Only time will tell. Thanks again for the comments. updates to come later tonight.

Re: new project daycab aeromax
I like the box truck look - get tricky and make a lift platform for it.....

Re: new project daycab aeromax--UPDATE--
Well I made some headway on this one, I got the cab mounted in the correct position and found the spacers to place below the box to make it sit at a more realistic height. I ended up using parts from the flatbed trailer kit, they were the spacers used to mount the side posts out away from the trailer allowing larger loads. They came in pretty handy... Here's a few pics to look at.
cab mounted without fairings installed: with fairings installed: box spacer mounted last one shows height of box over cab Not sure yet on whether to remove all the fairings from the kit or just the rears which end up under the box???? I don't think I like the way it looks and was thinking of using the boxes from the king or knight hauler set.... What do you guys think about this?? Thanks again for looking and commenting.. --Dan

Re: new project daycab aeromax
For a day cab I would use the boxes or tanks from a king. IMO

Re: new project daycab aeromax
Looks cool Dan. I really like this one. I'm w/ Matt...boxes or tanks what you usually see on these day cabs. Many, if not most, use that same front bumper you have there while some have a chrome or polished bumper. Joe
