RCMAN'S Mammoth build
Thought I would post my mammoth build here. Nothing special. I did add bearings, aluminum links and a light kit with brake lights.

Re: RCMAN'S Mammoth build
Nice looking Mammoth. What radio do you have in it? I am having nothing but troubles getting a radio to work correctly in mine.

Re: RCMAN'S Mammoth build
im using a cheap futaba 2 channel. some times its a little touchy trying to get the bed up and down but i thinks that is because im using a standard servo i think it needs a heavy duty steering servo. what problems are you having with your radio?

Re: RCMAN'S Mammoth build
About the same as you. Drives OK but a real pain to get the bed up and down. Was told it is probably the radio not having enough amperage in the BEC circuitry to get the bed to go up and down reliably. I have tried 2 other new 2.4g radios but still no luck.

Re: RCMAN'S Mammoth build
yeah that is a possibility. first i am going to try a high torque servo for the steering. if i turn my steering a couple of times it usually starts the bed moving ...

Re: RCMAN'S Mammoth build
I use a 4ch stick radio with mine & have the dump bed on a seperate ch. I can dump on the fly going forward, but not reverse.

Re: RCMAN'S Mammoth build
I think that the Mammoth will not mess up the axles like a Juggernaught because they are 2 different types of trucks. The Jugg is an off-road monster truck that almost anyone is going to beat on while the Mammoth is suppose to be a construction vehicle. I was able to buy some upgrade parts for the Jugg/ Mammoth from Tamiya which I installed. Most of the parts were drive train parts- axle cases and such which felt heavier than the originals. I am currently thinking of selling my Mammoth as I am not pleased with it at all.

Re: RCMAN'S Mammoth build
Ahhh, don't do that Lynn. It's a great runner for the outdoors, a go anywhere dumper without getting hung up on a twig or a sandy knoll.
My Mammoth hauled out the first two cubic yards of dirt from my basement in the summer of 2005... I wore out the rear driveshaft, but other than that, it's still going strong! If you're still using the kit stock motor, then a better choice would be Willy's WWR truck puller motor (approx rpm 8000) or an Integy motor of approx same rpm on 7.2v.
