Default Anyone here get migraines.

I have been dealing with them for about 15 yrs. and have had no real help in resolving them. I've tried diet change, food avoidance, caffeine, etc etc etc. I've had uncountable MRI's and ct scan done and other than seeing tons of scar tissue and a few scares with possible tumors nothing that could be of help. Every doc tries a different method and even a few who tried homeopathic routes all to no resolve.

To date I've had about 7-8 different meds to take once one starts to get rid of it, and 4 different preventitive meds to help from getting them all seem to work for a few months or less then bam migraine city, even with taking everything prescribed and OTC meds.while I stopped taking the prescribed stuff I still take vitamins and magnesium and vitamin B&D supplements which help a bit to ward them off but nothing if I do get one.

So I'm looking to see if anyone else has issues with this or suffers from them now and may be able to give some insight to what works for you or what you changed that helped. I'm just sick and tired of paying drs and neurooligists to do nothing. AARGH.......

Thanks for any input you guys can give or point me too

My missus has MS, and gets frequent migraines. One thing her specialist recommended is to increase Vitamin D (sunlight). With supplements and more time outside, the number of her migraines have reduced a little, not a massive change.

For me, migraines are usually sleep/stress triggered. Most meds do bugger all for mine, but i've found recently that taking Nurofen Plus (ibuprofen/codeine mix) and lying down in the dark makes things bearable.

Hope that helps, they're the most annoying thing...

I feel for you. I've never had a history of migraines, but at least a couple times a year I get some pretty unbearable headaches. The kind were any hard pyschical work (when you are at work) makes your head throb worse, and all you can do is crouch down, hunch over, close your eyes, and hold your head in your hands, with your elbows resting on your knees. A couple times I almost felt like throwing up too.

I usually get a bad headache like this from a lack of sleep (for more then one day), or lack of eating. About the best relief, for me, is to lay down in a totally darkened room, close my eyes, and just relax. I'm sure you've given that a shot too, as it seems you have migraines on a semi regular basis, and you are grabbing at straws. All I can say is I wish there was a way to take that pain away for you. As bad of headaches as I've felt, I don't think I could deal with that on a regular basis.

Hi Dan, I went through a similar situation for many years and the doctors just kept throwing stupid drugs and tests at me with no results. One day I took my wife to her eye doctor and she told her what I had been going through. She took me into an examine room and checked the pressure in my eyes not unlike checking tire pressure so to speak. Something no doctor ever did! The internal pressure in your eye should be less than 20, mine was over 60 and I was having a mild "event". Its called Closed Angle Glacoma. I had both eyes fixed and no more migraines! Still get the occasional sinus headache, but I'm not quite into cutting my nose off.

This might not be the problem but checking the pressure in your eyes takes about 5 minutes and it sounds like you've tried every thing else.

Good Luck, Kent

Midrin Cap Excellium was the best pill that I had, but it was taken off the market. I had a cat scan last week, have had a few too many concussion's. I have to go to the chiropractor alot, from being in construction, laser therapy on my neck help's a little bit.
Not much help, but I feel your pain!
Neil.

I've never been medically diagnosed with getting "migraines", but every few weeks I seem to have been getting some pretty gnarly long-lasting headaches. I attribute them more to stress and lack of sleep than an allergy or other medical ailment. I'm a few months away from my wedding, 1 month away from finishing up my undergrad, and putting in about 55 hours per week sitting in front of 2 computer monitors doing draining accounting work...so yeah, stress levels are pretty high! Since I've never seen a doctor for them, I've never treated them with anything more than OTC stuff. So far, I've found the best thing is just a dark, quite room; the TV or a computer screen just seems to aggravate it and make the pain more intense.

I definitely feel for ya...Hopefully you're able to get them under control and not have to worry about them much longer!

You know this may be something I have not had done. I've been to the optomoligist for an exam for possible causes but don't remember if they checked pressures or if it was just vision exams. When I get headaches and migraines I feel alot of pressure in my sockets and pressing g on them seems to help with the pain too. I'll def. have to ask of this test was performed or not.

since im still a youngster and everyone in my family smokes a lot, i experience headaches quite a bit, then the odd time i get a migrane. I absoulutly hate them! the only thing i can do is take 3 tylenols and find a dark silent room and wait it out for a couple hrs and try to get asleep. I know this is not the best method and thats all I know.

I appreciate the responses guys. The dark room some excedrine and meds is my usual go to once I have one,it will usually help to keep it from getting worse but that even fails at times. They definitely suck and I would not wish them on my worse enemies. I'm hoping I will be able to find some resolve to these and will let you guys know if I do.

what works for me believe it or not is simply use some Excedrin Migraine Maximum strength as soon as I even think one is coming on. It is easier to stop it than to try to relieve it.
