Kinda screwin up my schedule it's something I shoulda had done in "05" but kept pushin off I don't want to sit Any how , Here's the start of a long pain staking process But I think I'll achieve what I want still using the test rails the actual 1's will be steel .

Re: dresser TD40B dozer
Hello Steve nice work but they seem kind of tinny that is a lot of machine work and being so small hard to hold. Are you going to bush them? Keep up the good work. Ed

Re: dresser TD40B dozer
Ed they're .75" pitch yes all pins and bushings just like a real 1 . In the1st & last pics , you see (barely) .375" bushing pressed into the rails on 1 end . the 2nd pic you see a .25" pin pressed into the master link half . I still have 2 setups to do on the pads yet then a little forming for the curl under pat of them in front of the grouser bar . The pads scale to just under 2.25" wide so I just used 2.25 . the links are going to take me a week to get completely done . Then to press all of it together

thanks Scott
well these went into over time by 5 hrs had to finish up yesterday morning but all done except a lil bend to which the jig is made . just a lil vise time here and there or while assembly . I don't know whats in T bar but D-2 pre treat machined better then it not sure I'll make this cabin fever with it running unless I spend every hr from now till then on it but then a lot of ppl will be upset It's , time to make aluminum chips fly again

Re: dresser TD40B dozer
Keep going at it. Hopefully you can get it somewhat working.
That teebar would have hard spots in it from it being formed. Maybe you should have heated them red orange to anneal them first. |

Re: dresser TD40B dozer
well It gave my dull end mills something to die for I couldn't decide rather to have them resharpened or scrap them . I got the plate for the links but the 1st op will take the whole table . If things go well I may be able to sneak them in before wheel jig up time ( not looking good though ) I have a torch but MY dad has the O&A

Re: dresser TD40B dozer
Hey Steve, have you considered using a ceramic kiln for heat treat, that's how my neighbors do axles and stuff. Like the progress!

Re: dresser TD40B dozer
Hi steve-I have looked at these pictures a lot but I DO NOT understand what is the purpose of the "little pointy thingies" on the track rails. Please explain.

Re: dresser TD40B dozer
IDK Reg , master link right out of my TD12 parts book . PPL in different areas call the same thing a different name I even have that issue between 2 different parts houses take for instant , air pack or break chamber

Re: dresser TD40B dozer
Yes steve-that is the part I was looking at. My eyes are so bad I cannot see the link in the small picture but that is okay,at least now I know what it is. Maybe when your tracks are finished you can post a close-up picture. You are doing great work!!
