Default About me

Hey everybody! Most of you know me as RCP57 or Reg. Over the last few years I have slowly...No, I mean quickly become addicted to our hobby. I work nearly 100% with aluminum but I am not a welder or fabricator by trade. I have built a few pieces of equipment from scratch for myself and this summer finished a model commercial fish boat for one of my dearest friends. Seeing his reaction when receiving the model really inspired my to try and share my talents with others so when a fellow forum member and friend asked if I would try building him a gravel box for his project I saw my chance! Now I am new to building stuff for others but enjoy the challenge that this hobby provides. I hope to develop some great parts and pieces along the way with input from my fellow modellers/customers. I don't have a fancy high-end shop with automated machinery so each piece will be hand crafted/machined and TIG welded together. I am looking forward to building stuff for others but for now here are some pictures of my personal projects...

"Jackfish" was my first ever, scratch built model back in 2011...The "Blue Bayou" was built for my good friend this past summer...

After building "Jackfish" I was hooked(no pun intended) but wanted to build 1/10 scale heavy equipment and so it went...

My fleet at a local antique truck show this past summer...

My personal favorite and latest complete scratch build...A 1/10 scale version of a 1972 Kenworth 850, off highway logging truck.

and my first King Hauler with one of my dump bodies...

Thanks for looking, Reg

Thanks guys. I will be asking $700CAD for the setup but will get more into what that includes in a bit. I would like to try and build a pup trailer but need to raise some capital first to buy the axles, wheels and tires.

Congrats on your new vendor section Reg! .

I am honoured to be your first customer and very happy with the box you built.
Just wanted others to know that once you hold one in your hands, and see it up close, you know it's money well spent for sure!

Now I got to find the time to get started on this beauty!

Thank you Mario for giving me the opportunity and push to get this happening! I'm not sure if I can call you a customer though? You are more of an R&D person.

I took a few minutes to enjoy the hobby side of this today...OK maybe I also did it to shamelessly promote myself. Fun either way!

Thanks Mike. The excavator is not all that heavy for it's size. It is about 50lbs including a 9lbs lead acid battery.

Interesting... the difference between using aluminum vs steel. What was the main thickness you used in your undercarriage?

Other than where the front idlers are I think the thickest material is only 3/16. Most of the undercarriage is 1/8 but all of the body and boom are made from 1/16. I used 1/8 on the base of the house too which was a big mistake. I never thought that it would flex it as much as it does but live and learn...If I built another machine I would use at least 1/4 there to stiffen it up.

RCP57,
I know this is an old thread. I have had to take a hiatus from the hobby. I like to browse this site when I have time.
I like your work. I hope when I can come back to the hobby, I can acquire one of you dump trailers or boxes.
Perry
