Default miniature hydraulic

Hello my name is Igor and i visit this forum to seek answer to some question regarding miniature hydraulic. I am in process of planing how to build sailboat Imoca Open 60 with canting keel.
Now, all RC sailboat with canting keel do this canting system with servos and a lot of pulley system. It came to my mind is it possible to do it with miniature hydraulic system.
This hydraulic would have to cant keel and bulb(total weight of 3kg) for 45 degrees.
Is that possible and how much that kind of system would be heavy?
Also what kind of battery would that system use? Is it even possible to use it with AA battery
Thank you

Yes it would be possible. But, hydraulics are very complex to be used on such system. You need a pump, driven by bldc motor+esc, valve operated with servo, hydraulic cylinder and a tank. Now thats a lot more than a simple servo to operate canting keel directly.
Hydraulics are used more because they are cool, look good and are nice to operate.

It can be done, it would be cool if you want to make realistic system, but it wouldnt be good as servo operated one.

a simple servo and gyro would probably accomplish the same thing with a whole lot less complexity and weight
