Lots of wet weather here too Greg to firm up the dirt, the Volvo adt has no trouble backing up & on top of previously dumped loads of dirt from the wkend.

An interesting idea Martin, nifty to see it work.

It's raining here again today Dean... tried to seed yesterday (3wks, 5+ inches rain since I last turned a wheel), stuck 4 times in 3 hrs, gave up! I was just wrecking the land! All those rutts/mixed soil, the crop will be thin there for the next decade or longer. More rain in the 7day forecast... next yr country...

Moving out lots of dirt in recent wks.

And making movies to poke fun at the wdc guys.

Following another builder's lead of this model, I added 2.5kg to my counterweight. It seems to be adequate thus far.

Finnished up the remaining details last night...

And then it was off to the quarry...

What a humongous, heavy & aukward piece to carry down a narrow & steep stairwell... almost tripped on the 1st step!

I have the pressure set to 20bar, 2.5kg of BB's in the counter weight & after the 1st 5amp batt thru it last nite, I'm reasonably happy with the way it works. I'm thinking the swing esc, a MTronics Viper Marine 12v/15amp esc will need to be upgraded to something better, it's acting a little wonky putting 15-16v thru it... although I have the EPA set to 60% on both sides to limit the current going thru it.

I got some tinkering to do on it, then I'll go tackle that dirt pile outside before dark maybe. More movies tomorrow.

Nice new model there joe-I really like the long-reach capability of this machine. Are you pleased with the performance so far?

Great Videos Joe
The 850 is a monster, what do you think it ways ? That really changes the work in the pit, you can move alot of material in a short time.

Looks great, keep the video's coming.

Thanx Tom. Yeah, I'm really loving that long reach too, it sure can pile the dirt high!

I don't have a scale to weigh it Greg, I'm sure it's over 70lbs... not that that's that much weight for me to lift, it's just a real aukward piece to pick up off the floor & carry thru narrow doorways & steep stairwells. I've been spraying off/on for the last month, I have handled several hundred chemical jugs/boxes weighing as much as that.

I'm quite pleased with the model so far, absolutely incredible digging power that I have never experience before with the smaller models (obviously).

But I need a different radio b/c the DX8 only has 5 proportional chs, 4 on the sticks & a dial. The Sabertooth will not work with a 3pos switch & the dial.

I also need a better swing esc, as the MTronics Viper Marine that I have been using for the trks, the "forward" side of the esc swings smoothly, but the "reverse" side of the esc kinda pulses/hesitates, it's especially noticeable if I go too fast. You can see in the vid when it swings right.

And also, the Sabertooth I have is the 2x12, I should be using the 2x25 b/c the model is just so heavy & travels way too quick, the 2x12 over heats quickly & shuts down. The gh motor should have a higher reduction - slower rpm so the motors aren't working so hard, drawing high amps.

Jammer & Kalle are already quizing Vario fora group bargain deal on the new track drive system that the model now comes with, they thru my name in there too ( thanx guys ), perhaps it has more reduction/slower speed than the current drive system I have?

I've only got about an hour run time on it thus far, going outside right now to work that pile over some more.

Hey Joe, ever considered a "dumb waiter" system to get stuff in and out of the basement?

Is that a rope & pulley system?

I made the decision to sell the cattle herd this Fall... since BSE in 03, the $market has been just barely covering costs and I really don't have alot of interest in them anyway... so, I sold my hay crop this summer & that knocked off 150hrs of work I no longer have to do during July. I got time now to enjoy some of the summer sun for a change.

I made another video last night with the 850 & dozer working together. Shortly after I started I had a problem with the small spur gear under the body plate slipping for the swing drive. Remove four bolts & four wires and the 850 is in two halves in minutes. The simplicity of this model makes it very easily to work on.

Hey Joe, I'll try and describe a dumb waiter. every floor in the house has a door that open's and the small platform can move from floor to floor, like a full size elevator.
80 + year's ago the rich folk's had them in the house, and the servant's could send dinner, or what ever from floor to floor. I think they used a counterbalance sytem for the hoist. Maybe I need to check wicki for a better description. But anyway's, a rope and pulley is the simple answer. Later, Neil#2 aka doodlebug.

P.S. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dumbwaiter_(elevator)
