Talking Wooden Wagon 53' Dry Van

Some of you might remember from are garden days when i rebuilt a wedico tri axle tow truck for a great old man that asked me to finish some of his models for him as he just could not do it anymore at 89 years of age. This one project turned out to be a great friendship between my boys and I and Dave and his family. He had over 40 wedico trucks and trailers and tons and tons of Smith Miller toys.

Dave was also was very handy with wood.. Before he got into Wedico he had made scale semis and trailers out of wood.. He had built every semi he had every made or drove and even the trailers. He was a very well know truck driver and trucking company owner/ large farmer.

Sadly he past little more than a year ago 2 days before Dave had past his brother Mack said he was at his house and Dave was one the floor playing with the trucks I had got running for him like a little kid just as happy as could be. Well Mack who is in his 80's and his son still own the trucking company and farm and still truck they ended up with all of the toys and have them all in the house on shelf's even the wooden ones.

There happened to be a few wooden semis and trailers that were unfinished and I was asked to finish them for them and I was more than happy to say yes..

So here is the first one I have finished for them it is a Dry van to match the brothers sons trailer he runs everyday. it is all wood made from clear pine the wheels are turned out of oak it is very close to 1/14 in scale in every way just a little too long more like 56 foot in scale. I use sand-able wood primer then sprayed the black and taped off for the metal flake silver finished with some jewels for lights some mud flaps and DOT tape..

Enjoy..
