Default How the heck does this happen???

I'm still trying to wrap my head around how something like this can happen?

A 400 ton rock truck is not a small machine. It's bigger than my house! Here's a pic and no, the guy isn't a midget, he's 5ft 10"

And yet, someone was moving one of these monsters out of the wash bay with the box up! How could you not see or remember the box is up!???

Estimated cost of washbay repairs at this remote site???..... $200,000

That is the reason I don't let my wife or mom drive the motor home or any vehicle with trailer!!! I just know if the wife took the motorhome she would be calling from McDonald's drive through !!!

Ya know all those signs and warnings , all the red tape and caution signs we all ignore and never really read or take the time to look at? Well for everyone of those stupid, common sense sign there is the reason!!! Lol!!! Like the one in my little dumptruck that states when tailgate is down do not unlatch gate pins!! Yup did that and spent some time trying to figure out how to lift a 500# tailgate chest high by myself ,,,,, lol!!!

I've made that same blunder. Ended up raising the bed and using a chain to help me get it back on, including a lot of nice language, time, and a spoil pile bank!

Ouchee. This looks like something one of the drivers at my work would do. Unfortunately it happens. It was probably interesting to watch though.

My proharvest days from 90-96 throughout Midwest USA, many grain elevators I went to had damage on the front of their buildings just like that!

It blows my mind too how some ppl can be so absent-minded when operating such equip inside buildings.

I can tell you how I did it, allbeit a much smaller truck and smaller building. My case was nothing more than being pulled in too many different directions at once. Customer in a hurry for the truck, boss expects me to drop everything and go answer phone call questions, rushing around trying to do too much. I climbed out from under the body thinking "I'm done! Time to put the body down and pack up my tools." Then the phone rang. After the call was over, I laterally forgot where things stood and hopped in the cab and began driving out of the shop...cost the boss $17K to rebuild the wall in my case....and I learned that day to slow the heck down!

We had a guy in a triaxle Pete hauling in road salt for us at Brick Township where I work, and he backed into our salt dome raised the body and began dumping allowing the load to push him forward as you usually do...well he didn't realize how close he was to the garage door on the front of the dome. Well the body got wedged up against the wall with a full 40yards of salt behind it, so he couldn't back up and couldn't put his body down, he also couldn't leave the dome with the body up. Needless to say they're was no way to get a machine in around him so we had about 15 guys with shovels until he could move back far enough to get a bobcat in behind him. It cost the driver 5 pizzas and 3 bottles of Soda for lunch the next day which he gladly paid.
