It's a Traxxas Tmaxx diff. We are going to cut the plastic housing and add a rear pinion to the front diff housing to power the rear axle. We use these diffs in my Dads Challenger log truck and they work very well.

The front axles are done and the rear ends now have pinion carriers. The material for the leaf springs just arrived.
Now with the good weather it's getting harder to spend time in the shop, that and my dad is volunteering his time at McCleans mill national historic site on weekends. He's running the steam donkey and steam loader for 2 shows a day until september.
I will post more pics when I get a chance.

I'm not sure if you guys have figured out a solution to your tire issue but after trying many different things(including stiffer foam) the best thing I've come up with is to use foam weather stipping. I was having trouble with my front tires so I bought some 1 1/4"x 3/16" weather stripping, put some plastic rap over my rims(so it I could slip it off) and rapped it around until it was the right diameter for the inside of the tire. Then I slid it off the rim and carefully shoved it into the tires. It's amazing how strechy those tires really are as the weather strip it quite stiff. Works really well for me, it still has some give but will hold its shape under load even when turning.

Good idea on the weatherstripping foam. You might also try the plastic bb's. They help the tire hold its shape, but still offer some give to grip better. Can be a pain to fill the tire though.

Dad got the spring packs and trunion saddles done this weekend. Also narrowed the rear ends 1" to get a more scale look.

Cool, can't wait to see it. Do you think he'll have it finished for the antique truck show?

He's trying for the show but it's too soon in the build to know how things will work out.

It's in a glass case along with Hank's other models at a museum in Port Alberni BC. I think Lou might have some pictures of the display but I could be wrong.
