Default Hi from "DADSGARAGE" , Northern Alberta , Canada

I have been visiting and learning from this forum for a long time and thought it was time to actually join...this is an excellant place to learn more about this hobby!!!! I got my start in the RC world flying RC planes , but in the past few years it is harder to find the time to get out to the flying field, so I needed something new....building and using RC construction models was the answer...
Two years ago I began building a simple (1/12ish) RC D11 dozer which is the first of three models I would like to build at this point...LOL...time will tell....I have started building a 777 haul truck...here is the link to my vids (http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwrK...?feature=watch)
Thanks everyone for making this such a great site !!!

It's good to see you finally join us Kordell, I've been a fan of your videos for awhile now. Post up some pics of your dozer & haul trk when you get a chance.

It's about time my friend! Glad to see you've stopped being a Peeping Tom and signed up! You have some building techniques and equipment that most people have no experience with so I believe you will be a big asset to the forum!

Any new progress on the 777?

Reg

Thanks for the welcome and kind words.... I hope to start a thread on the 777 haul truck and maybe one on the completed dozer..... (Excellent job you are doing on your grader build!!!)... I use the OMAX proprietary "CAD" program ( OMAX is the manufacturer of the tables I use at work )

OUCH!!!..."Peeping Tom"!!??...can't beleive you spelt my name wrong , starts with a "K" not a "T"...LOL... yes I know I should have started this a while ago...amazing how fast time passes, yikes...

I was waiting on some parts from ServoCity to show up so I could make some progress on the steering , had a great idea on a way to do it...turns out to be another great idea that simply just doesn't work...funny how two things can't occupy the same space OOPS!!!AGAIN!!!...LOL....however I did manage to build something that should work...the ladders...LOL

Haha! OK, OK you were a peeping KP...
Wow those ladders look nice! The steering pieces look great too but I am assuming those are the parts that act like only children and don't to share?(space that is). Our equipment is close in size, it's too bad we live so far apart. It would be great to see some other big RC's.

I here you on not having others near by that build larger scale , doesn't seem to be as popular...be glad you at least you have a few other builders near you...I sometime wish I didn't live at the end of the road North...LOL...I don't know anyone up here in this hobby, most people here just work all the time...funny how work always gets in the way of the fun stuff...LOL...

Welcome Kordell
It's been a few snow storms since we last talked. Hope all is well. Your 777 looks great, super strong looking machine.

Going to be watching your builds, you have alot of great ideas in your builds.

Hey Greg thanks for the welcome...snow storms??? You don't get snow storms do you ???...LOL...
The 777 is slowly taking shape...the "super strong looking machine" could be a problem in that it is getting heavier all the time, it was OK to build a heavy dozer not so sure if it works as well to build a heavy truck..LOL...I tend to over build stuff which is not always a good thing but hey I'm learning....it just seems easier to build stuff out of thicker material easier to weld etc....which is a good thing because my skills at welding are...well lets just say...slim to none...LOL
Glad to see you like my build ideas...but many of the thing I do have already been done somewhere else just maybe not used in the same way...and believe me when I say many ideas that I thought would be great turned out to be complete flops!!...LOL...learning all the time , which is part of what makes this a great hobby!!! Challenging as well as frustrating but still fun and always rewarding!!

Thanks for all the welcomes!!!

Here are a few pics of the 777 haul truck (at this point the only things holding it together are tape, threaded rod and zip ties...LOL)

I hope to start a build thread on this truck soon....sorry for the attachment pics , I need to learn how to post the pics and not the attachment.
