Wow! What a great thread. I'm getting ready to order a Cross MC8 and saw this thread. Just a great job of explaining and documentation to bring your rig up to your standards.

Thanks for posting.

Eric

Glad you are enjoying the thread. I have been seriously lacking in the time dept. lately but I'm getting back into it now.

I have decided to move the Cross 8x8 to it's own thread. http://www.rctruckandconstruction.co...ad.php?t=10337

I got the Amewi. It's not as detailed as the Capo but I'd rather add scratch built details myself. It's all alloy and a fraction of the price. I'm delighted with it!

Cool. Ive got a V3 sitting on my shelf also. Just no time to work on it or the V2. Looks like they've lowered the gear ratio quite abit on the new one. A wise decision imo.

right now I got a brushed 540 45T in it, speed is ok on 2s but I need something with more power.
just ordered some 550 brushed to test

something around 1000 kv equivalent is good for me in speed with the new ratio on 2s, don't know the ratio on the v1 and 2

Will be interesting to see how the 550 works. Im toying with the idea of doing a 3:1 planetary reduction on each hub. But that will be costly, and as I said... Finding the time...

yea time is the problem, work hard, got money to buy toys but no time to play, lol

i've tested the tatra in hard condition and the diffs seems to be ok, but i agree they look fragile

The Capo distributer I buy from has regular meetings with Capo and regularly asks me for suggestions. One of the things I told him when discussing the V3 was that Id like to see planetary hubs for this. It would take so much stress off the diffs. Which has to be the weakest point in the drive train, given the tiny bit of mesh on those tiny brass gears. I guess they only half heard me, as the planetary reduction only made it into the transmission lol. I think this thing would be the ultimate model if they had done that. Super low range ftw!

I agree with that, I hope these brass gear will be ok, in your opinion will they last longer in open or closed position ?
I try to be in open position most of the time and lock the diff only when i need

Id be more worried about them breaking a tooth as opposed to wearing out. So ill be doing like you. Keeping them open untill needed. I plan to run each axle on a sepperate channel as well. Thats not really an option on the V2 though. Its all or nothing.

I too use 4 channels for the diffs, then use mix to operate then as I want, right now got a 3 pos switch for :
1-all free
2-rear locked, front free
3-all locked

this setup seem to be good for now, gonna test different combinations
