Default atlus like excavtor

so i finally starting my new excavator project!
good summer project i think. the frame and heavy parts are '
going to be made out of .125 aluminum and body and details are going to be brass and .080 aluminium. also using some parts from vex robotics i got for a old crane project that never was started.

Well it looks like a good start so far. i am scratch building mine to. bought rams valve and pump from magom for around 600 bucks its all service able cheap and from what i have heard it works. what scale are you goin for? i need tracks for mine and some plumbing and paint and she's all done

its going to be close to 1/14 scale. it kind of changed from a atlus to a cat 320e
so its still med size excavator i'm going to use the magom hrc pumps and valves too you can't beat the price and i used alot of there stuff. the bad thing that ever bothered me about their stuff is the brushed motor but looks like that has changed

Is the Undercarriage and track pads all bruder stuff? It looks good under what you have so far. Keep the pics coming.

All the rams are serviceable now and pumps have p.r.v. now and brushless.

I would almost bet you will be making your own track frames. just start with aluminum square tube and go from their. that way the center of your track frame will be aluminum where the turntable mounts and it wont flex and bend. mine was thin aluminum in thr beggining and i didn't even have much their of to much weight and it was already to flexible. but everything on my ex has been rebuilt atleast twice only improving they way i think and build evry time. thats the funnest part forvme anyways. i like what you have so far and i hope to see lots of pics and ideas

well i got some tracks for vex i orederd a while ago for a crane that never happened i did cut the frame parts, just got to weld them together. i got to go in to work to pick up something in the morning so i may zap that together

I just thought id say take a look at rc loggers posting. he shows a lot if good ideas budt the one i like most is the turn table he uses which i bought my self. it holds up tp 200 pounds side to side and uses a 1/4 scale servo and an aluminum and a brass gear should. just a thought

well over the last few days did some more stuff on the excavator hope to have it moving soon . got to put the body together and the arm to finish saving money for the drive pumps and guts

got the tubing and railing done this week end and plumbed the cyclinders, these gys are going to change but they will get it work ing for now and i can change them as i go. same with the valve its old but work ok.

Neat! It is cool when stuff like the hoses and pipes add detail as well as function. Looks like a fun project.

Oh, and, I missed it, how are you cutting the plate parts like the boom sides and cab parts? They look good!
