2.4 ghz Transmitter
Which 2.4 GHZ transmitter works best with the Tamiya MFCU.

I have found most 2.4 radios work well, even the cheapie 38.00 one bought off ebay!
My personal preference is the Airtronics RDS8000, all functions work perfectly. Have 2 myself, my brother runs 2 and other club members run them also based on my recomendations. Have also found the Spektrum DX5 and 6's to be an acceptable alternative but the engine shutdown sequence is very hit and miss? One of the best options is to make sure you buy a system that will suit any expansion of your truck systems in the near future, four channels does not seem to cut it nowadays. My King has the RDS8000 which is 8 channel and they are ALL in use.

I have a Spektrum DX7. Will this work? Which MFCU works best for the DX7?

I think it is more which MFC suits the needs of your vehicle?
The MFC01 was the original for most trucks The MFC02 was made for the F350, Tundra Etc (But sound great in some trucks?) The MFC03 is the newer version with the Euro style engine (Scania, Merc Etc) but has taken a lot of the features that were in the MFC02 also and they have added a few more. As to the DX7 radio, cant see any issues personally. I use a DX6 with my F350.

I just got the Futaba 4WYD and it works well with the MFC01 including the engine start up and shutdown. $109 plus $33 shipping..

I have 3x Futaba 4YWD's, one with a MFC-01, One with a MFC-03, and one with a DMD in a tank and they all work superbly. Great unit but if I get any more trucks I will consider a 6J or 8J or something with multiple model memory etc.

Futaba 4YWD is great if you're OK with only 4 channels
I upgraded to a Carson Reflex 6-stick. Limited to 6 channels, but it has been designed specifically for use with MFU. It has manual trims so set-up and operation is the same as the original Futaba 4VWD AM unit.

another option for Radio is the Planet T5
5 channel 2.4 ghz system that is good and cheap... has analog trims too... had planned on getting one for my Knight hauler but chickened out.... that has the 4VWD setup in that.... however have one in my Agrios... will be setting the 5th channel to work the lights :-p
