That diff and drive shaft created some sleepless nights for me! I ended up using a cast aluminum ring and pinion from an old Diawa fishing reel that I had since I was a kid(I'm a self confessed hoarder). The drive shaft is not perfectly straight but at the speed it turns you hardly notice. The only problem with my setup is the fact that it's a solid axle so my turning radius kinda sucks. I enjoy welding and fabricating stuff so as long as I build something different everytime I'm having fun. I'll post some pics of my first scratch build later(the fishboat).

Thanks again for all the positive feedback, it's very motivating!

Here's a pic of the real truck.

That just looks like a boat that's tied up in the harbour here in Comox. Are you sure you didn't take that picture here. Yours sure is a fine looking model.

Hey Guy's Made the ribs for the box this week and just put the first coat of paint on the chassis. I need to do a little more work to the box before it can be painted but I'm excited to get it back together!

Wow great job on the build, it looks Awesome. There is at least one truck like your model still intact in the valley but it has been moved from the boneyard recently (hopefully for restoration) .

You have to come up to Port Alberni for the Antique truck show at our McLeans mill historic site this summer. There is starting to be a large group of builders coming together on the Island here and we could put on an impressive display of iron

I'm hoping that I can join you guys at the truck show for sure! I'm wondering, how high will your guy's machines lift for loading my truck since it's a larger scale? I'd like to think I'll have another machine built myself by summer but sometimes work gets in the way of all this fun stuff...

When is the show in Port this year?

I can load to about 48'' high That's really coming along nicely. I would love to have a Euclid truck of the same vintage of my dragline.

48" should do it! My truck is not all that high, about 11" to the top side of the box rail. Installed the front windows today and put the first coat of green on the box. Truck is up and running(boxless) again so I'm stoked!

11" shouldn't be a problem for most of the machinery around here. If it is we can always build up a dirt ramp to elevate the machines for loading.
I think the show is in september.

Must be Green week! A cable dozer and now an early dump. Really like this truck - I've seen so many in the quarries and mines since I was a young'un that it's like old-home week. Keep up the great work!

MORE GREEN! I need to make new front rims because the tires don't fit snuggly enough for the weight of this thing! The 8.5 Ah lead battery is heavy! Time to make it look like a jimmy under that hood too!
