Default Hi from Newfoundland Canada

Hello folks.

My name is Darryl. I live in Newfoundland Canada and I have been a heavy equipment operator for 15 + years. I also love building models/diorama's (been doing that since I was a child).

I was recently introduced to this hobby by youtube. I must say I was stricken with interest right from the get go . I have been watching hours of videos and reading forums. I am going to step into the world of RC Construction.

I know it is a very expensive hobby. I have done some researching and with every bit of info I get I am more intrigued.

I am on the hunt for an excavator (either hydraulic at purchase or a conversion).

Any advice or information from the masters here is greatly welcome and appreciated.

Thanks!

Welcome from Halifax.
I'm in a similar boat; I've been browsing and want to get started on the RC construction and farming. I have not building experience though.

There's alot of knowledgable users here, and plenty of information.

Yes, I have been reading quite a few forum posts here. I can tell you honestly, when I read the post about the man named Joe excavating his basement, and then watched his videos....once i picked my jaw off the ground, I was hooked.

I am looking forward to investing some time and a few dollars into this fine hobby.

Just can't wait to get my hands on one of these machines

Yeah, that is going to haunt me for the rest of my life

My brand of choice for long term reliable durability with great performance at a reasonable price (although our dollar sure has taken a significant drop against the Euro over the last yr).

You'll see more pics & script on the german page than the English... I have auto translate

Yes, I don't have a machine yet and I am already addicted .

Yes, the Fumotec items seem quite good and I have watched some good videos with their gear in action. Good and solid with good smooth movement. I am going to register on their site this weekend.

I also noticed online (and read your review too Lil Giant) on the Earth Digger 4200xl, I watched the video of it lifting the 2 4ltr bottles of water and was blown away. I was thinking about getting one of these as well but wasn't sure about its quality. I noticed you were having some problems with it.

I was wondering if you use it at all now Lil Giant? Where did you purchase this machine? I had found 2 websites selling this model, one is RC4WD and the other is in China.

Well, its off to work for 12 hours. Will make a post in the construction section about the Earth Digger 4200 when I get back from work.

Thanks guys.

Another one from Estevan Sask saying hi ( I live in the same town as Stuff). Ill chime in on the 4200 excavator. I revived the newer version last year. Mine has been good. Lots of power and operates well. Some small leaks but trouble free to date. Around 100 or so hours on it. I do not doubt some of the other machines may out last mine but this machine was within my budget and I happy I bought it as a starter. I do look forward to the eventual failings as they will teach me what I will need to build from scratch. I hope you have fun as many of us do and welcome.
