If I lived closer I would be there for sure to help out Joe. I'd probably replace the R18 with a Terex Titan though which may not be a bad idea anyway....

The training must already be there Grady as there are video remote operators for underwater robotic vehicles, as I've seen it on Discovery for tree cutting and oil exploration.

Thank you for the kind compliments fellas, always appreciated.

Still working at the basement wall a few hrs a week, digging at the wall from the basement floor. Maybe a half yard to mine away yet, then dig a trench for the posts. The trench needs to be 30 inches deep, beyond the reach of the 850, but I'll dig as much I can with it, providing I don't strike any major boulders.

i am sure they have some of the training needed but just like when they started using the ROLanders they were looking for bodies that were doing it already as in the RC racers ,
and they asked around the forums if anyone knew how to control a plane with a computer and operator .in the 90's
So do not think people are not interested in what we do even if it is a big company that uses our ideas to make big money IE robots for bomb removal came out of the battlebots ideas and the computer controlled vehicle races out west that were set up by a couple of companies and our government lol
you could even start a company for the remote control digging industry they have them for cleaning out big tanks etc

have fun

Thumbs are for rookies.

Oh I don't think I'll ever leave my rural setting for greener pastures elsewhere Grady.. although the media is still after me.. some program on TLC called My Crazy Obsession phoned a week ago from LA & a german tv program, similar to Urban Legends on Spike wanted to use my youtube videos for their programming.

Something I did today was modify one of my ripper tooths, a much better angle for carving at the vertical wall.

Oddly enough I got another call today from TLC; their restructuring their program to focus moreso on large collections & unique hobbies, a more postive atmosphere of enjoyable past times, rather than the wierd fetishes & what not of last season.

But their timing for filming my hobby (if I were to make an audition tape & have it approved) is way off, they'd want to come in late August - early September, in the midst of my harvest.. I told them no thanks, but I'll be watching to see what comes of their program this winter and maybe we'll talk next summer.

The modded tooth is working fantastic.

Something I've been working at the last couple Sundays...

I just got to wire in an esc within the JD850, string a paired wire along the boom / stick, make a junction box for the female receptacles and solder on some leads to the motor... maybe Sunday I have a movie made.

Thanx for the praise Mark.

Caught up to the green again yesterday and so I can enjoy another Sunday off (without pain this time lol)... made the necessary changes to the screener last night & shot some vid this morning.

The screener itself weighs in @7lbs , add 3 to 5lbs dirt into it and it takes 25 bar to barely lift with the stick out much.

The dirt is rather damp in this vid, I'm sure it'd be a much more impressive showing in dry dirt or sand, quicker too! I'll shoot some of those vids after harvest.

This is about 3 5amp lipos worth of screened material... it'd likely be triple that amount with the flat vibra screen I normally use... but now this one easily portable.

Joe glad to hear that your walking around vertical again instead of being horizontal. Screener looks like it works real good. Does it work constant speed or is it on an ESC?

Thanx Rob. Me too.

I swapped out the Servonaut S20 I was using for the swing, installed a Sabertooth 2x12 & used the 2nd motor controller for the screener. Not knowing right off what rpm would be suitable for the screener, I started with a higher rpm gh motor & played with the tx's epa. The current gh motor is 40 rpm, still a little on the fast side @100%, got it dialed back to 60%.

I'm having trouble with the Sabertooth remembering its previous calibrations for the swing speed (EPA) after turning the model off/on. I could go back to the Servonaut, and now with this 40rpm screener motor, use a battle switch to turn on/off.

Joe I'm having the same trouble with the Saber tooth in the FWD.. So this morning I sat down and read the instructions for the fortieth time and I guess it finally sunk in. If you read the line to calibrate and store it now make sense. Switch 5 on (up) switch 6 off (down). Turn on trans. set your center, high and low and then turn on (up) switch 6 to lock it in memory before powering down. I tried it and everything seems fine now, fingers crossed!!!

Yeah, I think I was doing it backwards... 5/6 up, set epa's, then 6 down.

Thee old 50/50/90 rule

I had some fun in the quarry today, working at cleaning up the last of the south wall.. soon I'll be digging the trench for the posts of the last part of the wooden crib wall.
