Default rogers 55 ton (to start) detachable trailer

now I'm building my equipment fleet so I need something to move it on . Of course it must be heavy pretty simple just pull up on the net what I want and go from there . Having been around this stuff is a help
first the frame

the goose neck

the suspension z springs w/air bags (not made yet )

the hubs and 1st wheels ( what started it all )

now these where a trial to see if I could make 2 hole like they make the real 1's did not come out to well so here is the 3rd gen some of you have the 2nd gen

and painted farmall red , go figure with spanish cedar deck

OMG there's as much dust on this thread as the trailer it self well not any more I waited a long time for some nice skins on er ( since last march ) And finally got it to detach buy it self I still got to put the servo in to fold the supports up and make a bracket in the right position for the cylinder . And of course run the hose through the goose neck .

short vid
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWx4CwrLS6E

and a pic of new skins

Thanks for looking

Steve, How is the lift mechanism powered...and what was that small piece that lifted up off the ground after the trailer lifted up? It looked really clever and very .

Hydros the line of the tractor is a hose

Scott , this detach is based of 1 I use to have " ground bearing " basically a cylinder with a foot like a crane out rigger .

Paul , it's made of 1/16 steel

Awesome steve! We need guys like this from the forum to start an RC business, no more of this plastic junk! What are you gonna load on it? I mean like equipment or truck wise.

thanks Chris I just put the servo in and moved the cylinder to where it's supposed to be . NOW what gets me is , you get such a long cylinder w/a short stroke Ineed a 1/2 " longer which will make it stick up above the neck well you know what that means custom make but sad thing is ,THE LATHE IS TIED UP

thank you trucker , NOW what's this about plastic junk nobodies stock suspension will hold up under the weight of my stuff I tend to over build (just my nature ) for all practicality , the plastic actually not ordinary plastic , is sufficient . Now in my case I'm moving 50 - 100 + # machines with my trailer and it is still over kill .

Steve

Steve - they probably built the cylinders around materials available .... so maybe ifyou take the stck cylinder - open it up and do a little machineing then add a new rod you could get that needed length....

Now since the trailer that my dad was first using is this same trailer style - he always had to drop a block under the cylinder because it barely had enough stroke fr the job at hand........looks like you built it true to scale....LOL

we had a "70's" 25 ton rogers set up the same way . It had just enough stroke to drop it on the level . I should have about 2" stroke which I thought I had but being so long since I got it and why I got it I forgot what stroke it was and assumed 2" (it's only 1" ) . I had to get some stuff from mcmaster and got 1 with the order . I got the servo in to lift the stays and I'll be putting a block on the back when I drop Like the real 1 . All thats left is the out riggers that are still in the bag when I got them , new wheels YES new wheels these bother me
