I got around to dismantling the roll crusher and discovered why the previous owner said it was very noisy..... wonder why?
One end of the shaft was pretty wiped out and bushing worn out of round to about .060'' play between the two. I looked around some to see if I could buy a self lubricating bushing off the shelf. No luck, custom made, so I'll be making some new ones and I'm going to try to insert new graphite plugs in. I was thinking of building the thrust bushing up with some JB Weld with graphite mixed in. Not sure if that will work for a bearing surface though. |
