Ok, if you are ordering a tractor whether a tandem or tri-axle wheelbase is always measured from the center of steer axle to center of rearmost axles. middle of rear tandem. When you are getting a dot inspection or ordering a oversize load permit they want axle spacings which you measure center of steer to center of each hub. This pertains to the entire USA. May be different in another country but wouldn't think so

Hey bo if you spec a truck like that it would be a little short, you gotta go in between axles to accurately measure or order a truck but that would be how to order a single axle

I know just trying to give the best explanation I can. I have a big part in our truck orders and all I do is oversize loads. I read that post and saw how he wrote it was incorrect, just trying to point out how its done. dot goes by whats called axle spacings for length truck dealers will go by wheel base. Just trying to help point you in the right direction

Awesome cabs.
Iv'e operated trucks and construction equipment for 30 years.
And when you think you know the rules some smarta$$ change it all.
The best thing i did was to start haul oversized loads all over europa. permit is a good thing when a good office handle them. and it's so technical so not even the polis understand it all. 15 years not one ticket.

The only thing the cops actually look at on the over sized permits is the routes,

Really, since when. I wish that was a fact here. Anytime they pull you in to do a full dot with a super load they break out the tape. NY PA and MD for sure. I got my permit yanked on 9w in Newburgh NY with a crane for being 3" off on my steer to lift axle last year.
