Default Has anyone tried these??

i've been seeing these forever on ebay but i dont think i've seen anyone use/try/or buy one yet

there hydraulic pumps for convertable tops, new there pretty pricey but theres many for less then 100$ bucks used that even come with cylinders, mind you i have no idea the flow rates or pressures they run at hence this post

i was wondering if anyone here had any experience with any of these or if anyone happens to know some specs on them

here are a couple of what i'm talking about but they come in all sorts of sizes and configurations

any insight / info anyone could throw this way would be awesome
as i'm always trying to save money and theres alot of junk yards nearby that im sure i could scoop one of these from for cheap but i dont want to waste my time, like if someone says there all made with plastic gears for instance

Thanks
Trevor

I bought a complete set up from an 88 mustang and it's pretty big. 3"x9" not including the mounting brackets. It fit in my Volvo but drew 12amps with no load so I didn't use it. I think I might make a dump trailer for behind the riding mower out of it instead. I'm not sure how small others may be though just my 2 cents.

The duty cycle of the motor will be the big issue. Not all motor's are rated
"continous duty" The first one pictured, a heat sink could be attached to the motor, to help cool it. Reg is right, how much space will they take up?
But give it a try and let us know how it work's out.
It's great that you are looking for other way's, to build model's with!

Cheer's, Neil.
