Smile Trommel made from left overs

Hi guys,
After seeing the fantastic Trommels on YouTube I thought I would give it a go with the leftover scraps in my shed.
Here are a couple of videos of the testing.
This is a work in progress/ prototype.
Any thoughts?
Paul

Looks great, works well too, you've made good use of scraps.

The use of your Duratoy conveyer & hopper would be perfect to feed this trommel... then 3 bruder conveyers on the sides to fill trks with sized material.

I was looking for a screening plant but they are called Trommel, no wonder I could not find any information on them.

Cheers Chris
Thanks Chris, I made the drum from perforated metal and welded the seam.
Trommel translated is drum apparently

Hi Joe, I have another Duratoy conveyor on its way, should be here in a couple of weeks along with A separate conveyor belt assembly.
I will be looking at making new conveyors from Ali at the same size as the Bruder one to be able to use the belts.

Trommel is norwegian for drum.

Right on Paul, looking forward to seeing it all come together.

Great use of extra materials! Trommels are interesting to watch work and now you have a source of 1:14 mulch and bedding. So, where can you buy 1:14 scale landscaping plants? Really nice job on the build.

Great job on the trommel Paul..Sorts very good and very simple You could use some vibrating motors to help the material slide down the shoots ..I am currentley working on one myself and getting close to finishing..i will post some new picks on my thread

I will test it again over the weekend with the new shutes and hopefuly make an infeed shute and post the video. If it is slow in ejecting the material I will look at adding a vibration unit the same as I put on the Duratoy conveyor. Looking forward to see more of your build.

Good to see Paul.

Will you hang the trough/feeder spout from the conveyer? Can you purchase just the conveyer (what's shown) by itself? If so, much of a price reduction?

Looking forward to the video... 8 - 10mins, I wanna thoroughly see it work.

Not sure, I was thinking to hang the trough from the trommel infeed end.
Hope to get a video soon.

Hey Chris, I tried it yesterday and had the same issues, I tried the shute made from cardboard just for the test. I think I will try and find a couple of vibrating units from the MFU and mount them under the drum and on the out feed of the conveyor. I have used these on the hopper with great success.

Your drum speed might be too slow... my screener bucket spins at about 60rpm, I tip it a couple of degrees from level and the material comes quickly, even damp soil... get the lumps tumbling, that'll vibrate the drum & shake all the fines out. Your feeder trough, could line with puck board - very slippery plastic.
